Cleveland, OH – On May 18, 2013, 8:00 am, Cleveland State University’s Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs will host a pilot training program for local elected officials. The training program is the result of a collaborative effort between the Levin College and Cuyahoga County Councilman Dave Greenspan, District 1. The free, all-day program includes sessions on Economic & Workforce Development, Public Finance, Transparency & Communications, Ethics & Integrity, and Governance Roles & Responsibilities.

Generously funded by the Cleveland Foundation and the Greater Cleveland Partnership, and facilitated by The Center for Leadership Development at the Levin College, this seminar is intended to provide our local leaders with practical and relevant knowledge in an environment that allows for networking opportunities among officials from different communities. Attendees will be asked to provide feedback that will inform the future direction of a more robust and sustainable program to support a community of informed elected officials properly equipped to tackle the challenges of our time.

The program has also been endorsed by the Northeast Ohio City Council Association and Georgine Welo, President of the Cuyahoga County Mayors and City Managers Association. The Levin College (ranked 2nd in the Nation for its graduate specialty of City Management and Urban Policy in U.S. News and World Report in 2013) has brought together an impressive faculty of thought leaders and practitioners to present useful information on subjects that impact the big picture issues and the day-to-day efforts of public officials.

The Seminar will take place in the Roberta Steinbacher Atrium of the Urban Affairs building at 1717 Euclid Avenue. Please see the attached Seminar Agenda for specific information about topic areas and instructors.
