County Council to hold meetings on Casino Revenue, Charter Amendments, Delinquent Court Costs, Northeast Ohio Veterans Home - Tuesday, June 26, 2012

CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Residents are invited to watch and participate in several important conversations to take place during a series of County Council meetings on Tuesday, June 26, 2012.
Starting at 1:00 p.m., Council will hold a Committee of the Whole meeting to discuss various proposals for the use of County revenues from Ohio casinos, and possible Charter Amendments to be placed before voters on the November ballot.

At 4:30 p.m., the Council will hold a Work Session to hear an update on the Medical Mart/Convention Center. Jeff Appelbaum, Thompson Hine LLP, and Jim Bennet, Senior Vice President of Cleveland Medical Mart and Convention Center, will present before Council regarding the progress of the project.

Council’s regular meeting, beginning at 5:00 p.m., will include consideration of:

  • legislation in support of the construction of a State Veterans Home in Northeast Ohio,
  • an agreement with the Ohio Attorney General for the collection of delinquent Court costs,
  • the creation of a fund to support services for Veterans in Cuyahoga County, and
  • the Workforce Development component of the Cuyahoga County Educational Assistance Program.

All three meetings will be held in Council Chambers, 1st floor of the Justice Center, located at 1200 Ontario Street, Cleveland, OH 44113. Residents can attend these public meetings in person and give public comment during the meeting. For residents attending Council or Committee meetings taking place after 4:00 p.m., parking at the Huntington Park Garage is free.
