Just-in-time training for Greater Cleveland's unemployed workers: editorial

[Employment Connection] is bracing for an expected $1.5 million cut this July, reducing its $10 million budget by 15 percent as the feds shave job training, says Dave Reines, Employment Connection's executive director. The actual numbers will be unveiled shortly, he says.

Such tight-fistedness is stunning in a nation that needs a boost from higher-skilled workers.

Luckily, Julian Rogers, a member of the Cuyahoga County Council, wants the county to help fill the gap with up to half a million dollars in stop-gap job-training funds.
